Rock House, Karen, Nairobi Rock House, Nairobi - our private guest accommodation adjacent to our Kenyan director's house in the quiet, leafy, western suburb of Karen. Landscaped tropical garden, swimming pool, wi-fi and internet, and a number of attractions nearby - Giraffe Centre, Crocodile Village, health centre-gym, and Karen Blixen's house. Horse riding in the locality is also possible. If you stay two nights we provide complimentary transport into Nairobi - about 30 mins away. This is also very convenient as our safaris and treks start from here.

Fairview Hotel, Nairobi - top of mid-range hotels, just outside town centre, quiet natural setting with pool. Bed & Breakfast: single $180, double $220, triple $260
Heron Hotel, Nairobi - family owned & run, conveniently located with easy access to Nairobi’s city centre, and yet removed from the bustle. En-suite rooms, al-fresco restaurant, swimming pool, sauna, modern communication centre, and a convenience shop. Bed & Breakfast: single $75, double $110, triple $140
Kenya Comfort Hotel, Nairobi - clean, secure, excellent central location near to shuttle bus terminus. Can be noisy at night sometimes from nearby entertainment/shopping centre. Bed & Breakfast: single $45, double $70, triple $90
Parkside Hotel, Nairobi - similar location to Kenya Comfort (but
not as noisy). The hotel is a little bit shabby and with a separate dining
room 20m from the hotel but rooms still en-suite and perfectly adequate
for short stop-overs, and the cheapest option we'd be happy recommending.

Mountain Rock Lodge near Mt Kenya. Peaceful
forest setting, 1 km off the Nairobi/Nanyuki road. En-suite rooms (with
open fires) set in large grounds with lake and gardens. Horse riding and guided nature/bird walks available. Bed & Breakfast: single $45, double $70, triple $85
Hotels in Tanzania
Ahadi Lodge Ahadi Lodge, Arusha - a little out of town centre in a very local setting. Several luxurious rondavels sited around the pool. Excellent restaurant, internet, and transport available to Arusha town centre. This is our recommended accommodation when staying in Arusha.
Outpost Hotel, Arusha - 15 mins walk from centre of town, small self contained rooms in garden setting, bar and small restaurant. Bed & breakfast: $70 single, $110 double/twin
Capricorn Hotel, Marangu - 3 star hotel set amidst banana and coffee farms by the edge of the Kilimanjaro forest. Full board: single $130, double $195
Meru View Lodge - secluded setting on edge of Arusha National Park - 1 hour drive from Arusha. Good base for Mt Meru climb - family run - six double room bungalows only, set in tropical gardens with swimming pool.
